Recently, the City Council adopted an Ordinance amending the Development Code standards for signs and outdoor display of merchandise, which are found in Title 17 of the Code.  The Amendment involves revisions to Chapter 17.12 (Signs) and to Section 17.35.090.D of Chapter 17.35 (Commercial and Public Zones), which contains the regulations for outdoor displays.  Revisions include the definitions, procedures, and design standards for signs, and the addition of incentives to allow increased sign area, regulation of electronic changeable copy to allow for modern technologies, and the elimination of portable freestanding signs (such as A-frames) to reduce sign clutter.
