Bynette Mote has served on the Big Bear Lake City Council since December 2020 and was appointed to serve as Mayor Pro Tem in December 2021.Currently, Bynette serves on several boards and committees including the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Agency, Mountain Transit - San Bernardino Mountains, and is also Chair for the Big Bear Fire Authority Board and Economic Development Advisory Committee for 2023.

Bynette brings to Council over 25 years of business management leadership in the insurance industry. She has working perspectives from small businesses to large corporations, a strong operational and financial background, effective skillsets in creating policy and procedures, and strategic planning experience. She also held a Director position with our local marketing organization Visit Big Bear for the 2019 season, developed a path for the new Events Department, planned major events like the KC BBQ Grill & Chill Championship and Chili Cook-Off, and managed the TBID event grant program. 

As native Californians, both Bynette and her husband Greg have strong ties to family and friends across Southern California. They enjoy spending their leisure time hiking in our National Forest, enjoying the “touristy” activities in the Big Bear Valley, working on their house, lounging with their cats, and volunteering throughout our community. They support many Big Bear organizations with their time, skills, and donations, including Big Bear Trails/SCMF, our Hospital Foundation and the Alpine Zoo just to name a few. You never know where you will find them… whether bike valeting at the Tour de Big Bear, at a fundraiser for DOVES, walking around the Village on a Saturday, building new trails, and they were even spotted as riders on the Big Bear Float in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1, 2019. 

Bynette is passionate about shaping a prosperous, sustainable, and beautiful Big Bear Valley that everyone can enjoy for decades to come.
