Program Update

With the dissolution of redevelopment agencies by the State of California earlier this year, the City of Big Bear Lake began evaluating local economic development needs and opportunities. As a result, the focus for our new economic development efforts have now been shifted from the adopted redevelopment plans to a “home grown” local economic development program characterized by implementing our “Quality of Life” projects and our Business Expansion, Attraction and Revitalization “BEAR” Program.

At the City Council meeting of September 24, 2012, the City Council gave the green light to pursue the development and framework for five (5) major action items for their future consideration. They are as follows (in no particular order):

  • City-wide Business Façade and Sign Improvement Program
  • Lodging Revitalization Program
  • Business Attraction Initiative
  • Business/Tourism Improvement District Program
  • Quality of Life Projects Funding Strategies

Please stay tuned for regular updates as we move forward with developing our new programs and initiatives and bring them forward for Council consideration and adoption over the course of the next few months.

In addition to the above referenced five (5) action items, please review the new Big Bear Lake Economic Development Program Summary.
