Rick Herrick was elected to the Big Bear Lake City Council in November 2006 and re-elected in November 2010, November 2014, November 2018 and most recently in November 2022. Rick has also served several terms as the City's Mayor - 2008, 2009, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Currently, Rick serves on the Big Bear Area Regional Wastewater Board of Directors and on the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority.
Rick has previously served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, Director for the Bear Valley Parks and Recreation District, and Chairman of the Department of Water & Power Board of Commissioners. In 1999 Rick was honored with the National Crystal Award for excellence in community service from the National Association of Broadcasters. While attending college, Rick was Program Director and Sales Manager of KXLU-AM/FM broadcasting from Loyola Marymount University. Throughout his extensive radio career, he worked as a sales account executive for KIKF-FM in Orange County, and KABC-AM and KBIG-FM in Los Angeles. Rick and his wife moved to Big Bear in 1995 to build Big Bear’s radio station, KBHR-FM 93.3, an outdoor advertising company and BigBearNews.com, and have been members of the Valley community ever since.
